It has been 30 anniversary since the first Toy Story movie debuted, launching the animation giant as a major film company and bringing viewers to iconic characters like the cowboy doll (the actor) and the space ranger (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.

Coming in 2026, the next chapter is scheduled for release. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 landed recently, offering a glimpse into the plot but leaving viewers curious how it will address the conclusion of Toy Story 4.

The Latest Addition: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Spooks the Gang

The preview reveals the young girl — who received the toy collection when he left for college — receiving a latest plaything, one that alarms Woody, Buzz, and the crew. She gets her first tablet computer, and she is thrilled about it.

Theoretically, the amphibian-inspired device will animate just like the rest of her playthings. However, the toys seem to view it as a danger intending to supplant them, which it probably is.

Woody's Return: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4

One thing the teaser doesn't touch on is why the sheriff is back with his friends in Bonnie's room. The end of Toy Story 4 depicted him set off on a new adventure with Bo Peep (the actress), traveling with a carnival and assisting prize toys locate loving owners.

Surely, the filmmakers will address the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the film. Seeing him appear in Bonnie's room without warning is somewhat puzzling, though. It also makes us wonder whether Bo Peep will have come back with him. And where is Duke Caboom (the star)?

Connections from the Last Installment

At the very least, some aspects are continuing from the earlier movie. The final act Woody did before departing for his new life was pass his sheriff badge to Jessie (the voice actor), entrusting her as the leader of Bonnie's bedroom. In the teaser shows the insignia pinned to her shirt.

It is hoped she is still the driving force among the toys.
