Catherine's Yearly Festive Service of Carols Pays Tribute to Charity Helpers

The Princess of Wales is hosting her customary Christmas carol concert at the historic Abbey, with a congregation comprising members of the royal family, famous faces, and community champions who have helped their communities.

The large audience will hear a selection of festive songs, musical performances, and spoken word pieces from actors such as Kate Winslet and Chiwetel Ejiofor.

Centred Around Love and Generosity

The focus of the service, held in the atmospheric historic church on Friday afternoon, is generosity and expressing affection towards one's neighbour.

Among the guests will be Jonathan and Anna Cordiner, whose young girl was lost to a brain tumour, and who founded an organisation, Kayleigh's Wee Stars, to support families who have a terminally ill child.

"The time, care and compassion you give, often without fanfare or recognition, and without any hope for reward or acknowledgement, make an remarkable change to the circumstances of individuals," the Princess expressed in a note prior to the concert.

A Steady Comeback

The Princess of Wales is continuing her own gradual return to public life subsequent to her illness and medical care, in November making her major oration since 2023, in which she discussed recognising the "discreet, frequently unseen labour of caregivers".

Musical Talent and Access

Attendees entering the Abbey will enjoy performances from talented youth performers backed by the Future Talent organisation, co-founded by the former royal to widen access to musical tuition.

Carys Wood, aged 18, who is a trumpet player and is from southwest Wales, has been assisted by the organisation, with awards contributing to instruments, tuition, and transportation expenses - and she said it was "incredible" to be playing at the concert.

"Pursuing music is often costly," Carys said. She is now a student at the prestigious music academy, and added that "each individual ought to be given the possibility" to cultivate their performance abilities.

Generations Gathering

Her younger sibling Eliza, aged 11, who plays the euphonium, will likewise attend the Abbey. "I never imagined I would perform in front of so many distinguished guests," she said.

Attending the service will be individuals spanning multiple eras.

That will feature nine-year-old Saphia Turner, winner of a young hero award, who produces drawings and undertakes charity feats to raise money for community pantries.

Seasonal Ambiance and Entertainment

The Abbey has been festooned with handcrafted festive wreaths, with celebrity baker Mary Berry and floral designer Simon Lycett assisting in their creation.

The musical lineup includes singer Katie Melua, the Abbey's own choir and a nautical singing ensemble, the Fisherman's Friends, who said the chance to take part was "a dream come true."

The Together at Christmas carol concert will be aired by television on December 24th.
